Varga, Acting Assistant Director for Light Water Reactors Division of Project Management U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, D. C. 20555 RE: Mark II Pool Dynamic Loads Program -
Bailly Nuclear 1 Docket No. 50-367
Dear Mr. Varga:
Responsive to your letter of October 9,1979, please be advised that to the maximum extent practicable, the design for Bailly Generating Station Nuclear-1 will comply with the NRC's lead plant acceptance criteria for Mark II Pool dynamic loads (NUREG
~
0487, 10/78). Where load reductions or exceptions to these criteria are required, we will attempt to base such changes on the generic lead plant and follow-on plant programs.
Thus, our current plans do not call for NRC review of any plant unique programs related to pool hydrodynamic loads for Bailly N-1.
However, it should be recognized that, because of the preliminary nature of the current design for Bailly, some modifications to this position may be required as engineering proceeds. As the design engineering for Bailly progresses, we will promptly advise you if it is determined that plant unique programs are required.
Very truly yours,
