Borough of Shippin Company, et. al. (gport, et. al. versus Pennsylvania Power including Duquesne Light Company)
Dear Mr. Saltzman:
We have received notice from Duquesne Light Company of 13 suits, per the attached list.
You will note that on only two has service been effected (#1066 of 1977 and #1099 of 1977). The others have only been filed with the Comon Pleas Court of Beaver County, Pennsylvania Briefly the cases are all bottomed on alleged pollution from the operation of both coal-fired and nuclear electric plants in the Borough of Shippingport, with alleged bodily injury and property damage.
In particular the Borough of Shippingport suit includes a demand for injuction. Two others are based on eminent domain actions. The remaining 10 are brought in Trespass for bodily injury and property damage. All but the two eminent domain cases include demands for compensatory and punitive damage.
