PRELIMINARY NOTIFICATION OF SAFEGUARDS EVENT--
PNS-79-94 This preliminary notification constitutes EARLY notice of events of POSSIBLE national security or public interest sicnificance.
The information Dresented is as initially received without verification or evaluation and is basically ali'that is known by IE staff as of this date.

Subject:
BOMS THREAT On August 24, 1979 at 8:00 p.m. PDT, an unknown male callec the Pullman Power Products' office at the Diablo Canyon Unit No. 1 site and stated a bomb was to go off at 8:30 p.m. in the pipe racks of Unit No. 1 between the Containment and Turcine Buildings.
Pullman Power Products' employees were advised of the threat and all elected to leave the site.
A search cf the site was conducted with negative results.
Media interest is not expected by the licensee, and no press release is planned.
The State of California has been notified.
Site Construction progress is currently reported 's 99U c.capiete for Unit No. 1 and approximatley 98% for Unit 2.
Fuel is on site.
Tne IAT has been notified.
