The University of Wisconsin Madison, Wisconsin License No. 48-09843-18 Sub ie'ct:

PROPOSED IMPOSITION OF CIVIL PENALTIES - $2,300 This is to inform the Commission that a Notice of Violation and a Notice of Proposed Imposition of Civil Penalties in the amount of Two Thousand Three Hundred Dollars (S2,300) will be issued on or about August 15, 1979, to the University of Wisconsin.

This action is based on six alleged iter.is of non-compliance with NRC regulations and/or license conditions, involving such matters as inadequate training, failure to properly evaluate internal exposures to indivi-duals, failure to evaluate releases of airborne radioactive materials to un-restricted areas and exceed'ing incineration limits.

Four of the six items are repetitive.

None of the items of noncompliance involved an immediate threat to the public health and safet9 A news release has been prepared and will be issued about the time the licensee receives the Notice.

The State of Wisconsin C l' be notified.

It sncuid be noted that the licensee has not been specifically informed of the enfcrcement action.
