PRELIMINARY NOTIFICATI0fl March 9,1979 PRELIMINARY NOTIFICATION OF SAFEGUARDS EVENT--
PNS-79-19 This preliminary notification constitutes EARLY notice of events of POSSIBLE national security or public interest significance.
The information presented is as initially received without verification or evaluation and is basically all that is known by IE staff as of this date.

Pacific Gas & Electric Company Diablo Canyon Units Nos.1 & 2 Docket Nos. 50-275 & 50-323 San Luis Obispo, C-lifornia
Subject:
BOMB THREAT On March 9, 1979, at 6:41 a.m. PST, an unknown male called the San Luis Obispo Sheriffs office and ga~ve the following message:
"A bomb will go off at Diablo Canyon at 10:30" (AM or PM unknown).
The licensee was advised and conducted a search of the facility with negative results.
Contractors were advised and approximately 250 workers left the site.
Media interest is not expected by the licensee and no press release is planned.
The State of California has buen notified.
The I AT has been notified.
NRC, Region V (San Francisco) received telephone notification from the licensee at 11:25 a.m. PST, on March 9,1979.
