PRELIMINARY NOTIFICATION March 12, 1979 PRELIMINARY NOTIFICATION OF SAFEGUARDS EVENT--
PNS-79-20 This preliminary notification constitutes EARLY notice of events of POSSIBLE national security or public interest sianificance.
The information preserted is as initially received without verification or evaluation and is basically all that is known by IE staff as of this date.

Pacific Gas & Electric Company Diablo Canyon Units Nos. 1 & 2 Docket Nos. 50-275 & 50-323 San Luis Obispo County, California
Subject:
B0MB THREAT On March 9,1979, at 5:29 p.m., an unknown female called the Sierra Vista Hospital in San Luis Obispo and gave the following message: "A bomb at Diablo Canyon will go off at 7 o' clock."
(a.m. or p.m. not specified).
The hospital not_ified the Sheriff who at 5:59 p.m. notified the licensee.
The licensee conducted a search of the facility with negative results.
Contractors were advised, and approximately 30 workers left the site.
f'edia interest is not expected by the licensee, and no press release is planned.
The State of California has been notified.
The IAT has been notified.
NRC, Region V (San Francisco) received telephone notification from the licensee at 10:10 a.m., on March 12, 1979.
