- 3. Telephone Conversation Between USNRC and Boston Edison Ccmp'ny of November 6, 1979
Dear Sir:
In our initial response to Item 7 of Ref. A, the operating modes and procedural controls which casure that an inadvertant gaseous release from Primary Contain-
=ent would not occur upon the reset of engineered safety feature instrumentation were not expressly delineated.
All containment isolation valves associated with venting and purging receive a signal to go closed upon receipt of a containment isolation signal even if initially in an open position. The only valves normally open are thcae involved in the containment differential pressure operation. The control switches for these valves would be in the auto position.
To prevent these valves from reopening following a manual reset of the primary containment isolation signal, appropriate operating procedures are being revised to include the following statement.
Prior to resetting a Primary Containment Isolation signal, verify:
1.
The Standby Gas Treatment System is in service.
2, The following containment isolation valves are placed in the closed position; A05041 A&B, A05042 A&B, A0 5043 A&B, A05044 A&B, A0220-44,
,0 and A0220-45.
