Pursuant to the Staff's commitment to provide weekly reports on the status of resolution of open items and completion of the Staff's Safety Evaluation Report in the referenced proceeding, this constitutes suct report for the week ending October 12, 1979.

Pending the discussions and receipt of infor=ation anticipated at the scheduled meeting between the Staff and Licensee on October 18, 1979, in-tensive Staff review and evaluation of the proposed modifications and of the remaining open items has continued.
Sincerely,
<M J sep R. Gray cur el for NRC Staff i
