Dear Mrs. Walsh:
I am pleased to respond to your letter of August 29, 1979, requesting infor-mation on the prehearing conference and evidentiary hearings to be held with respect to the application of the General Electric Company (GE) for renewal of its license for the Morris Operation Spent Fuel Storage Facility. The August 13, 1979, notice of hearing issued by the Atomic Safety and Licensing Board (ASLB) established to rule on petitions for leave to intervene and requests for hearing does not establish a date for either a prehearing con-ference or evidentiary hearings to be conducted with respect to the application by GE for a license renewal for its Morris Operation. The notice provides that pursuant to a notice to be published in the Federal Register, a Special Pre-hearing Conference will be held in the vicinity of Morris, Illinois, at a time and place to be set by the ASLB in the near future.
No determination has yet been made by the ASLB with respect to the specific issues to be considered at the evidentiary hearing.
For your use and information, I am enclosing a copy of the ASLB's August 13, 1979, notice of hearing, as published in the Federal Register on August 20, 1979 (44 Fed. Reg. 48830). To assure that you will be advised of the dates of hearing, I am requesting that your name be added to the distribution list for the notices to be published in connection with the conference and the hearing.
