Dear Mr. Menear:
i The Atomic Energy Commission has submitted to the Office of the Federal Register for filing and publication a notice relating to the consideration of issuance of a facility operating license which would authorize the Metropolitan Edison Company, Jersey C. antral Power & Light Company, and Pennsylvania Electric Company, au co-licensees, to possess, use, and operate the Three Mile Island Nuclear Station Unit 1 pressurized water type nuclear power reactor on the applicante' site located in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania.
As state'd in the notice, reactor operation will be authorized at steady stato power levels not to exceed 2535 megawatts (thermal) in accordance with the provisions of the license and the Technical Specifications appended thereto, upon the submission of a favorable safety evaluation of the application by the Cosetission's Directorate of Licensing, the completion of the environmental review required by the Commission's I
regulations in 10 CFR Part 50, Appendix D and a finding by the Cocusission that the application for the facility license (as amended) conplies with the requirenents of the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, as amended, and the Commission's regulations in 10 CFR Chapter 1.
A copy cf the notice is enclosed for your infornation.
Copies of the proposed operating license with appended Technical Specifications, a related safety evaluation prepared by the Directorate of Licensing, and the draft and final environmental statements referred to in the notice will be sent to you as soon as they become available.
