They are the Metropolitan Edison Co pany's proposed nuclear power plant on Three Mile Island in the Susquehanna River, and the La Crosse boiling water reactor near La Crosse, Wisccasin.

Metropolitan Edison Company of Reading, Pennsylvania, has applied r

for a permit to construct a pressurized water reactor with an initial net electrical output cf 831,000 kilowatts.

It would be located on Three Mile Island near the east shore of the Susquehanna River above York Haven das. The site is in Icndonderry Township of Dauphin County, about 10 miles southeast of Harrisburg. Babcock & Wilcox Company will furnish the nuclear steam supply systec, Gilbert Associates, Inc. will be architect-engineer for the project and United Engineers and Ccnstruc-tors, Inc. will canage construction of the plant. A public hearing to consider the application will be conducted scen by an Atocic Safety and Licensing Board in the vicinity of the proposed facility.

The la Crcsce boiling water reactor, designed to produce 50,000 kilowatts of electricity, was built by Allis-Chalmers Manufacturing Ccepany for the Atomic EnerEr Co==ission. Dairyland Power Cooperative will operate the facility for the Cornission and will purchase the steac produced by the recetcr.

In July, 1967, a provisicnal operating authorization was issued to Allis-Chalmers for initial cperation of the plant. AEC's Advisory Co==1ttee on Reactor Safeguards has reviewed Dairyland's application to take over operaticn cf the reactor from Allis-Chalners.

O Copies of the ACES reports are attiched.
