a UNITED STATES ATOMIC ENERGY COMMISSION DOCKET No. 50-289 METROPOLITAN EDISON COMPANY NOTICE OF RECEIPT OF APPLICATION FOR CONSTRUCTION PERMIT AND FACILITY LICENSE The Metropolitan Edison Company, P. O. Box 542, Reading, Pennsylvania 19603, has filed an application, dated May 1, 1967, pursuant to Section 104(b) of the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, as amended, for authorization to construct and operate a pressurized water nuclear power reactor at its site on Three Mile Island, an island in the Susquehanna River, in Londonderry Township, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, approximately ten miles southeast of larrisburg, Pennsylvania.
The proposed nuclear power plant, designated by the applicant as the Three Mile Island Nuclear Station, Unit 1, is designed for initial operation at 2452 megawatts thermal with a net electrical output of 845 megawatta.
