Oa ENCLOSURE DESCRIPTION OF VIOLATIOpS Metropolitan Edison Company Eacket No. 50-289 License No. DPR-50 One activity under your license which appears to be in violation of AEC regulations, is considered to be of Category II severity.
1.
TechnicalSpecification[.3.2.A.2, Appendix 3requiresthatthe Auxiliary and Fuel Handling Building exhaust gas, iodine and particulate me. tit.or, RM-A8 or similar device shall be operable during release of gaseous vaste from the gas decay tanks.
Contrary to the above, the iodine monitoring channel on RM-A8 was removed from service, for approximately thirty-five minutes, on September 28, 1974 during a gaseous release from a gaseous waste decay tank. We note that this was reported in your letter, dated, 9
October 4, 1974.
It is further noted that i=plementation of corree-tive and preventive action identified in that letter was verified during the inspection.
A second activity under your license which appears to be in violation of AEC regulations is co.tsidered to be of Category III severity.

Technical Specification 4, Table 4.1-1, Appendix A and Technical Specification 2.3.1 and 2.3.2, Appendix B requires that certain radiation monitoring syste=s shall be calibrated at quarterly intervals.
Contrary to the above, quarterly calibrations, due to be cc:.q,leted by June 30, 1974, were not accomplished until approximately two months after that date. We note that this was reported in your letter, dated, Septe:ber 26, 1974.
It is further noted that corrective and preventive actions identified in that letter were verified during the inspection.
