O'Reilly, Chief, Reactor Inspection and Enforcement Branch, Division of Compliance, HQ METROPOLITAN EDISON COMPANY (THREE MILE ISLAND NO.1) Docket No. 50-289 The attached report of the inspection of the Metropolitan Edison Company, Three Mile Island, Unit No. 1 construction site conducted on October 8 and 9, 1970, is forwarded for information. The inspection covered a review of the concrete work in progress, the reactor vessel support and the reactor vessel. No items of nonconformance were found. The qualification of nondestructive test procedures, previously reported as an item of nonconformance has been corrected. Procedures are now qualified in accordance with NAVSHIPS 250-1500 which appears to meet the FSAR commit-ment to USAS B 31.7. 2 W:/ u E. M.,Howard Senior Reactor Inspector
