DCCKET ';0 50-239 During the January 12 ACES ?Ieeting with Met. Ed. the captioned subject was raised by the Centitter.. The statement was made by both the applicant and 344 that the Met. Ed. reactor vessel and internals are being designed to enable ecx::plete removal and 2 einstallation of the core and internals for in.<.pection purposes. This sucports the position that E5J tock in July 1967 when they indicated that a E&'J - P'd3 system cculd be designed for a neninal additional cost, to accanodate a conservativa volumetric inspection of the reactor vessel. To ::r/
knowledge this is the first reactor vessel that is beinz desir.ed to attempt to meet th3 objective of the centemplated periodic reactor review and access criteria.
Mr. L. Roddis, GPU Lirector of Fuelear Pcver Activities, stated that it was in fact the applicant's intention to include in their pre-operational test progran a functienal test to determine that the reactor vessel internals can be installed, removed and reinstalled without experiencing deletericus effects upon the plant.
