FACILITY:

Arkansas Power and Light Company Arkansas Nuclear One (AN0), Unit 1 Russellville, Arkansas Docket No. 50-313

SUBJECT:

INADVERTENT INITIATION OF EMERGENCY FEEDWATER SYSTEM AND TRIP 0F THE STEAM DRIVEN EMERGENCY FEEDWATER PUMP On June 21, 1979, during low power physics testing with the plant at normal operating conditions, an inadvertent initiation of the Emergency Feedwater (EFW)

System occurred and both the steam driven and electric motor driven pumps started.

The steam driven pump subsequently tripped due to causes unknown at this time.

Inadvertent initiation of the EFW is believed to have resulted when the operating range level channel output signal was manually transferred to the alternate level channel.

A press release is not planned.
