PRELIMINARY NOTIFICATION OF EVENT OR UNUSUAL OCCURRENCE--PNO-79-193 This preliminary notification constitutes EARLY notice of events of POSSIBLE safety or public interest significance. The information presented is as initially received without verification or evaluation and is basically all that is known by IE staff on this date.

Susquehanna Steam Electric Station Unit 1 and Unit 2 Berwick, Pennsylvania Docket No. 50-387/388
Subject:
RESCHEDULE OF COMMERCIAL OPERATION DATE The licensee has announced that the commercial operation dates of both Susquehaana units will slip by five months.
The slip is attributed to delays in plant construction and start-up programs and a projected delay in receipt of the Operating License from the NRC.
Unit 1 was scheduled to be in commercial operation in February 1981 and Unit 2 in May 1982. The scheduled commercial operating daten of the units have been delayed until July 1981 and October 1982.
The scheduled fuel load dates have been delayed to December 1980 and April 1982 respectively.
This preliminary notification is issued for information only and no further action by IE is anticipated.
Media interest is expected because of a press release on this subject issued by the licensee on June 25, 1979.
The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania has been info rmed.
A press release is not planned by the NRC.
NRC, Region I, (Philadelphia) received notification of this occurrence by telephone call from the resident inspector at 8:20 a.m. on June 26, 1979.
