This preliminary notification constitutes EARLY notice of an event of POSSIBLE safety or public interest significance.
The information presented is as initially received without verf fication or evaluation and is basically all that is known by IE staf' on this date.

SUBJECT:
RELEASE OF STOP WORK ON ELECTRICAL CABLE PULLING Electrical cable installation at Susquehanna Steam Electric Station was resumed on June 27.
A Stop Work Order had been issued, by the licensee on June 13, 1979, to stop all cable pulling. The licensee ordered the installation stopped when it was determined that the process of pulling cable through conduit was damaging some of the cables.
The Resident Inspector has verified that the licensee's prerequisites to resumption of cable pulling have been accomplished.
A followup inspection of cable pulling activities will be conducted by Region I.
Media interest is expected because of a press release on this subject issued by the licensee on June 27, 1979.
The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania has been informed. A press release is not planned by the NRC.
NRC, Region I, (Philadelphia) received notification of this occurrence by telephone call from the Resident Inspector at 4:00 p.m. on June 27, 1979.
