Tennessee Valley Authority Hartsville Nuclear Plant, Unit A-1 Docket No. 50-518 Hartsville, Tennessee
SUBJECT:
NON-NUCLEAR INJURY OF CONSTRUCTION WORKER At approximately 5:15 p.m. on. July 11, an iron worker fell from the reinforcement steel structure of the containment. shield wall.
He fell 6 to 8 feet, landing on his b'ack across the top edge of the steel containment shell plate.
The worker was removed.from the containment on a stretcher and taken to Smith County Hospital at Carthage, Tennessee.
Preliminary medical evaluation indicates a possibly fractured thigh.
Local media interest may develop.
A news release is not planned at this time by the licensee or NRC.
The State of Tennessee and OSHA have been informed.
Region 11 (Atlanta) received notification of this occurrence by telephone from NRC inspector on-site at 6:45 p.m. on July 11.
