Louisiana Power and Light Company DN 50-382
SUBJECT:
PLANT EVACUATION The Louisiana Power and Light Company (LP&L) notified Region IV of a site evacuation of construction forces due to a chlorine gas release by a chemical plant east of the Waterfcrd site.
The site was evacuated from 11:00 A.M. to 1:30 P.M. on July 25, 1979, due to an accidental chlorine cas release by Hooker Chemical Company.
Evacuation and return of the workers at the Waterford site was without incident.
There were no injuries to site personnel as a result of the chlorine gas release.
Hocker Chemical Company made a press release and the incident was covered by the local news media and TV.
Neither LP&L nor RIV plans a press release.
Tne licensee reported this matter by telephone on July 26, 1979.
