PUBLIC MEETING IN WEST CHICAG0, IL TO DISCUSS KERR MC-GEE'S PROPOSED DECOMMISSIONING PLAN A public meeting will be held in West Chicago, Illinois tonight, August 8, 1979.
Kerr-McGee officials will discuss their proposed, revised decommis-sioning plan for their West' Chicago facility, which was used until 1974 to extract thorium ar.1 rare earth metals from ore.
Tne meeting will be hosted by the Mayor of West Chicago.
The senior Kerr-McGee representative is expected to be the president of Kerr-McGee Cheni._si Corporation.
A representative of NMSS will discuss the review which will be performed on this revised plan when it is submitted to NRC on August 15, 1979.
(The review of an earlier version of the plan was performed earlier this year,) NRC, Region III representatives will be present to answer questions concerning the facility, if required.
Newscaper accounts of this meeting have been published.
Coverage tonight at tne meeting is expected.
