This preliminarv notification constitutes EARLY notice of an event of POSSIBLE safety or nublic interest significance.
The information presented is as initially received without verification or evaluation and is basically all that is known by IE staff on this date.

Subject:
WORK STOPPAGE, STRIFE Cemmonwealth Edison repor*.ed to RIII (Chicago) that at the start of the day shift on August 2, 1979, Painters Local 465 of Utica, Illinois had icitiated a wildcat, jurisdictional strike at the La Salle construction site and had placed pickets at the gate.
The jurisdictional dispute is against the Operating Engineers, Local 150 of Ottawa, Illinois, over the painting of various ccustruction equipment including crawler type equipment.
All crafts are honoring the picket line.
Energancy crews,
i.e., fire, maintenance, etc, are in the buildings.
The licensee's operating personnel are also en site.
The resident inspector is onsite and will follow the progress of the stike.
R:II (Chicago) received preliminary uotification of this matter by telephone fror. the resident inspector at 7:45 a.m. and was confirmed by the licensee site superintendent by telephone at 8:20 a.m.
