STOP WORK ORDER ISSUED TO AMERICAN BRIDGE AND IRON COMPANY Region III learned on July 31, 1979, that Newberg Construction Company had issued a stop work order to American Bridge and Iron Company following unauthorized modifications ' involving the attachment of clip angles to structaral beams.
While the number of instances known are considered minimal, clip angles were being welded instead of bolted.
Considerable news media attention continues to be given to the construction problems at Marble Hill.
The State of Indiana is being kept informed.
Region III was informed of this action by the Public Service of Indiana Construction Project Engineer.
