Subject:
UNPLANNED REACTOR SHUTDOWN The licensee informed RIII that following the completion of the 100%
load rejection test on January 15, 1979, they initiated plant cooldown operations in order to replace a failing reactor coolant pump shaft seal.
The outage is currently scheduled to last two weeks.
The licensee issued a press release concerning the outage and the power ascension testing performed this past weekend.
The State of Ohio has been informed.
RIII (Chicago) received notification of this matter by telephone from the licensee late on January 15, 1979.
