Tennessee Valley Authority Sequoyah, Unit Nos. 1 and 2 Docket Numbers 50-327 and 50-328 Chattanooga, Tennessee

SUBJECT:

STRESS ANALYS b CF FiPING SUPPORTS The licensee verbally reported on May 22, that a Tennessee Valley Authority review of safety related piping support design indicates that summation was not ;nade of the static, thermal and safe shutdown earthquake forces at their Sequoyah facili-ties.

Unit 1 is complete and awaiting issuance of an operating license; Unit 2 is under construction and is about 80% complete.

The largest force was apparently used in the design of piping supports instead of an appropriate summation of all forces.
