The information presented is as initially received without verification or evaluation and is basically all that is known by IE staff on this date. Facility: Consumers Power Company, Palisades Covert, Michigan License No. DPR-20 Subjr.ct: SAFETY INJECTION N0ZZLE STRESSES The licensee notified a-Region III (Chicago) inspecter onsite at 1:00 p.m. today that the safety injection nozzles from the B&D accumulators into the reactor vessel cold legs could be potentially over stres,ed during the OBE or DBE seismic events. The reactor is presently in not shutdown and is proceeding to cold shutdown. The licensee was informed of the potential problem at a meeting between NRR, EDS, Bechtel, and Consumers Power Company on Friday, April 27, 1979. A Region III (Chicago) inspector is onsite following up this matter. A press release was made by the licensee. The Region does not pian to issue a press release. The State of Michican is being notified.
