PRELIMINARY NOTIFICATION June 4, 1979 PRELIMINARY NOTIFICATION OF EVENT OR UNUSUAL OCCURRENCE--PNO-79-131A This preliminary notification constitutes EARLY notice of an event of POSSIBLE safety or public interest significance.
The information presented is as initially received without verification or evaluation and is basically all that is known by IE staff on this date.
FACILITY: Virginia Electric and Power Company North Anna and Surry Power Stations Docket Nos. 50-338, 50-339, 50-280 and 50-281 Mineral and Surry, Virginia
SUBJECT:
OPERATOR STRIKE This supplements information previously submitted in PN0 79-131.
The licensee offered a revised contract to the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) on June 2.
It appears that work will continue until at least June 25, when a vote on the contract is scheduled.
There has been local media interest.
Neither the licensee nor the NRC plan to issue a news release.
The Commonwealth of Virginia has been informed.
Region II (Atlanta) received notification of this additional information by telephone from the resident inspector at 9:00 a.m. on June 4.
