p PRELIMINARY NOTIFICATION June 1, 1979 PRELIMINARY NOTIFICATION OF EVENT OR UNUSUAL OCCURRENCE--PNO-79-133 This preliminary notification constitutes EARLY notice of an event of POSSIBLE safety or public interest significance.
The information pr,esented is as initially received without verification or evaluation and is basically all that is known by IE staff on this date.

Virginia Electric and Power Company North Anna and Surry Power Stations Docket Nos. 50-338, 50-339, 50-280 and 50-281 Mineral and Surry, Virginia S_UBJECT:
OPERATOR STRIKE This supplements PN0 79-131 issued May 31, 1979.
The licensee is continuing to meet with International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Union negotiators to reconcile contract differences following union rejection of the contract on May 30.
Members have called a strike to start at midnight tonight although IBEW cioes not intend to strike unless negotia-tions break down.
Strike contingency plans are in effect at both stations with sufficient personnel onsite to continue operations.
Resident inspectors have reviewed the plans at each site and found them acceptable.
There has been local media interest.
The licensee is answering news inquires at this time but does not plan any news releases pending results of the negotiations.
The NRC does not plan a news release.
The Commonwealth of Virginia has been informed.
Region II (Atlanta) received notification of this additional information by telephone from a Resident Inspector at 10:00 a.m. on June 1.
