Dr. Paul S. Lykoudis, Head School of Nuclear Engineering Purdue University West Lafayette, Indiana 47907

Dear Dr. Lykoudis:

Your letter of August 30, 1979, to Chairman Hendrie has been referred to me for repl3 I note that Dr. Mattson, Director of the Lessons Learnad Task force, wrote to you on September 10, 1979, in response to a letter similar to the one you sent to the Chairman.

I fully agree with Dr. Mattson's letter, tiut I will add my assurance that there are no plans to reactivate ORSCRT. We recognize that educa-tional institutions such as Purdue have played an important rale in the education of nuclear engineers, and we would expect that role to s

continue.

Sincerely, y.....
