Application for Two-Year Extension of the Preliminary Design Approval (PDA-3) for RESAR-41

Dear Mr. Varga:

Enclosed are sixty (60) copies of Amendment 24 to RESAR-41, the Reference Safety Analysis report doctrenting the Westinghouse 3800 MWt Nuclear Steam Supply System. Amendment 24 is submitted in accordance with the Com-mission's August 22, 1978 policy statement on standardization and in accor-dance with your letter of tiovember 9, 1978 which requires each application for a PDA extension to assess the design with respect to the Category I, II, and III matters approved since the regulatory requirements cutoff date for the PDA in questien and the Category IV matters scheduled for review by the RRRC. Amendrent 24 provides the required assessment for RESAP,-41 and is in the forr. of a separate appendix. None of the existing material in RESAR-41 has been modified.

Westinghouse requests a two-year extension of PDA-3, the Preliminary Design Approval for RESAR '1, as provided by the Commission's policy statement.
