9 October 26, 1979 MEMORANDUM FOR:

Lee V. Gossick, Executive Director for Operations FROM:

Robert G. Ryan, Director, SP

SUBJECT:

DELAY IN REPLYING TO LETTERS FROM GOVERNOR GRASSO Earlier this week, Doc Collins attended a meeting of the Inter-organization Advisory Committee on Radiological Emergency Response Planning and Preparedness in Colorado.

At the meeting, Mr. Frank Mancuso, Governor Grasso's repre-sentative, complained that several letters to NRC from Governor Grasso have not been answered.

The first one was a letter she wrote to Chairman Hendrie on July 19.

Our office prepared a response and forwarded it to the Commission through your office'on August 4, 1979 (copy attached).

Tite second letter was written to Chairman Hendrie sometime in June and dealt with public affairs.

I remember talking to Joe '

Fouchard last spring.

Apparently, the reply never made it out either.

Governor Grasso, according to Mancuso, is livid and she plans to inform members of the Connecticut delegation to Congress about her irritation.
