Grier, titled " Response to IE Bulletin No. 79-02, Rev. 1, Pipe Support Base Plate Designs Using Concrete Erpansion Anchor Bolts", dated July 9, 1979.

Ref. b.) NRC Letter to Boston Edison Companj titled, "IE Bulletin 79-02, Revision #1",

dated June 21, 1979.

Dear Sir:

In Ref. a), Boston Edison Company stipulated that inspections of all seismic Category I base plates would be completed by February 28, 1980.

On August 30, 1979, Mr. Ralph Architzel of your office contacted Boston Edison via telephone and requested that we re-structure our inspection schedule, to reflect a completion cf inspections on accessible

  • anchor bolts by November 15, 1979.

In a subsequent IE Inspection by Mr. Architzel, on our procedures for anchor bolt inspection, it was pointed out that our method of testing "wej-it" types should be expanded to include the scope as delineated in Reference b.).

Please be advised that our inspection schedule for accessible anchor bolts, with the exception of "wej-it" types, has been revised and we will make every effort to complete these inspections by November 15, 1979. More time is needed to complete inspections of the "wej-it" types, due to the increase in scope per Reference b.). Should any unforeseen circumstances prevent us from completing inspections on all other accessible anchor bolt types per this new schedule we shall notify you accordingly.
