Commonwealth Edison One First National Ptaza. Chicago Ilknois Address Reply to: Post Office Box 767 Chicago, Illiriois 60690 November 5, 1979 Mr. S. A. Varga, Assistant Director Division of Project Management U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, D.C. 20555

Subject:

LaSalle County Station Units 1 and 2 Mark II Pool Dynamic Loads Program NRC Docket Nos. 50-373 and 50-374 Reference (a): S. A. 7arga letter to B. Lee, Jr.

dated October 9, 1979

Dear Mr. Varga:

In response to your request for information contained in Reference (a), Commonwealth Edison has reviewed the use of pool dynamic load tasks outside the generic Mark II pool dynamic loads program. As documented in the LaSalle County Station Design Assessment Report (DAR), the LaSalle design will be based on the Lead Plant Mark II Pool Dynamic Loads Program. Several recent meetings have been held with members of your Staff to review the Lead Plant Program which LaSalle County Station is following. It is our understanding that the NRC Mark II Con-tainment Staff Reviewers are in accord with the Mark II Lead Plant Program.

Commonwealth Edison will continue to support the Mark II owners Group tasks which are applicable to non-lead plants; however, LaSalle County Station is not deviating from the Lead Plant Program. If you have any additional questions in this regard, please direct them to this office.

Very truly yours, ec :in.
