COMPLIANCE WITH 40 CFR PART 190 BROWNS FERRY NUCLEAR PLANT UNITS 1 - 3 (DOCKET NOS. 50-259, -260, -296)

TVA will operate the Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant units 1-3 in a manner which will ensure that the dose or dose commitment to any real individual from uranium fuel cycle sources shall be limited to less than or equal to 25 millirems (mrem) to the total body or any organ, except the thyroid wich shall be limited to less than or equal to 75 mrem, over 12 consecutive months. For purposes of this commitment it is assumed and understood that the only dose contributions to be considered will be those from planned discharges and direct radiation from the three Browns Ferry units and any other nuclear fuel cycle facilities within a five-mile radius of Browns Ferry and that the dose commitment from other uranium fuel cycle sourecs is negligible.

To demonstrate compliance, calculations will be performed quarterly and if the effluent releases exceed twice the release limits of existing Technical Specifications 3.8. A.2, 3.8.B.3, and 3.8.B.4, TVA will prepare and submit a special report to the Commission and limit subsequent releases to meet the above stated 40 CFR Part 190 limits.
