Dresden Station Unit 1 HPCI Progress Report NRC Decket No. 50-10 Reference (a):

K.

R. Goller letter to J.

S.

Abel dated August 5, 1974

Dear Mr. Ziemann:

This letter is being transmitted in accordance with Reference (a) to report the status of our progress towards completion of the Dresden Unit 1 HPCI System.

All six (6) of the sphere electrical penetrations and the one (1) mechanical penetration have been installed.

Hangers and cable pans have been installed between the electric duct run manhole #4 and the turbine building.

Power and control cables have been pulled from the control room to the HPCI building.

Electric work for the entire HPCI job is approximately 40% com-plete.

The fuel oil tanks have arrived on site.

The day tanks are set in place, and the storage tank area has been ex-cavated and the tank is currently being set in place.

We are still awaiting delivery of some of the large equipment, including main control panels, logic panels, motor control centers, ESAP diesel generators, fuel oil trancfer pumps and service water pumps.

We met with the NRC Staff on September 21, 1979 to discuss the Appendix K ecample proolem transmitted in April, 1979.

We wanted to confirm that the nodalization and technique used for the Appendix K analysis is acceptable.

In the meeting, we were informed that the example problem had not been reviewed.

This greatly concerns us because expensive analyses are being performed without any Staff approval of the techniques.

We again request that an expedited schedule for review be generated for these NRC required analyses.
