Detroit Edison Response to IE Bulletin 79-23 This is in response to your letter on cket 50-341, dated September 12, 1979, together with IE Bulletin 79 ^3.
This IE Bulletin describes potential failure of emergency diesel p,erator (EDG) field exciter transformer.
The Enrico Fermi Unit 2 EDG's have Wye-Wye connected exciter power supply transformers and are not susceptible to third harmonic inducted circulating currents from the generator. Also, Fermi 2 has committed in the EF2 FSAR, Appendix A, to follow USNRC Regulatory Guide 1.108, Revision 1, for the EDG preoperational and surveillance test program.
