Docket No. 50-289
Dear Board Members:
s Early this week the NRC Staff received from Docketing and Service a large num-ber of ei'.ner limited appearance statements or requests to make limited appearance statements. Among them were six letters which were slightly ambiguous regarding the nature of pa ti,cipation sought by the author. These letters were written by the following persons: Senator George W. Gekas: Marie Evans: Septt R. Hess: Stephen S. Miller: Mrs. Rhoda D. Carr: and W. Harold Sandford. Copi'es of their letters are enclo' sed for your convenience.
We have attempted to contact each of the authors, and have been informed that five of the authors desire to make a limited appearance statement. We have been un-able to locate a telephone number for the sixth, Scott R. Hess. However, we be-lieve that his letter is 130 intended to be a request to make a limited appearance and are so informing him by a copy of this letter. All of the persons we contacted were informed of the Board's designation of Novetr.ber 15-17 as a session of the special prehearing conference set aside for public participation.
Unless we hear further from Mr. Hess, we do not expect to express any additional positien respecting these six persons.
Sincerely,
(
