SUBJECT:

Grand ;u'f Nuclear Station File 02/0/15525/15526 Interim Report No. 3 for PRD-79/07 As Defined in 10 CFR 50.55(e)

AECM-79/117 On March 23, 1979, Mississippi Power & Light Company notified Mr. J. K. Rausch of your office of a potential reportable deficiency at the Grand Gulf Nuclear Station Construction site. The deficiency concerns circuit separation discrepancies found in the Unit 1 and Unit 2 Power Generation Control Complexes.

The problem specifically concerns redundant class IE wiring, Division 1 and Division 4, terminating on a common device FK-48B in panel 2H13692.

This design represents inadequate implementation of circuit separation as required by Regulatory Guide 1.75 entitled " Physical Independence of Electrical Systems."

General Electric is currently inspecting the subject paneJs for wir-ing discrepancies.

We expect to receive the inspection results from G. E. and make a determination on reportability by January 31, 1980.
