SCOPE - This procedure appl.ies to all licensed =aterial with respect to receipt and preparation for ship =e:.t.
It also applies to opening of shipping centainers, re= oval and exchange of sealed scurces, and closing of shipping centainers when working with Iridiu= 192 up to 100 curies, Cobalt 60 up to 75 curies and Ytterbiu= 169 up to 10 curies.
When using sealed sources with quantities in excess of those specified, opening, re= oval and exchange, and closing sha'll be perfor=ed cy the source supplier.

RECEIPT OF LICENSED MATERIAL 2.1 Within three hours upon receipt at the Rabecek !c Wilcox Co.,
Material Services Sectica (Receiving Dept.). receiving personnel should cctify acy one of the following individuals in the order as listed:

Graber 2.2 Transfer of the licensed =aterial will be made f.m: the receiving area to a radicgraphic area under supervision of the Radicgraphic Section Supervisory Ferr.cnnel. Vehicles used to transfer a=y quantity of radicacti 4 =aterial requiring a "Radicactive Yellcw - III" la'.al =ust be placarded with the work "Radicactive" in black letters en a yellow backgrcund.
2.3 At the tine of transfer, the Supervisor involved shall
=ake a survey of the centainer to verify that radiation level is within the levels specified by the Federal Regulations as follows:

OVAL AND EXCE.CGI 0F SEALED SOURCES, AND RESEALEn OF TEE SHI?D CONTARER 3.1 The Assistant Fadiatic: Safety Officer shall be responsible for supervising the following operatices. Upon opening of the shipping container, the following ite=s shall be verified es to inclusion in the shipping package.
3.1.1 Source decay chart and leak test certificatice.
These shall be kept for record purposes.
3 1.2 Source identifiestic plate. This pl,te =ust be attached to the projector,.
3.1.3 Return shipping labels. These shall be kept by the Radiographic Supervisory Ferser.ncl.

3.1.h Ta:perproof seals.
3.1.5 Operating Manual.
3.1.5.1 Technical Operations, operating Instractions, Source Cha=ger Model 41h and/or 650 for the Models h98, 533, 660 and 6e0 Projectors.
3.1.5.2 Auto =atic: Industries, Inc. Operating Instractices Aute=ation ^=dustries' Scurce Charger dated October 1970.
The above set of cparating instractices shall be used when perfer:1.; the re= oval and exchange of the sealed scurce in ec Junction with tha same instractions listed in Paragraph 3 2.
32 Specific instructicas for re_cval and exchange of sealed sources are as follcas:
3.2.1 A survey meter cali~ crated in accordance with Fadiographic Cperati:g Procedure No. 2, Fart I shall be used and cnitored at all times.
3.2.2 Place projecter and source shipping container in a shielded expcsure area.

3.2.4 connect scurce tube changer supplied with new source.
3.2.5 Unlock source and using.e=ota cracking device position source into shipping ccatainer.
3.2.6 Disconnect source tabe charger frc= shipping container.
3 2.7 Disconnect drive cable frc= old source.
3.2.8 Cap and seal olc.seurce.
329 Break seal and re=ove cap frc= new sou::ue.
3.2.10 Connect drive cable to new source.
3.2.11 Connect scurce changer tube to connection on shipping container containing new scurce.
3.2.10 Using re=ote cracking device retract new scuree into projector and lock source.

3.2.13 Disconnect source tube changer.
