Miss Desmond's corcern following the Three ile Island event, related primarily to hcw plants in Illinois are inspected, how often and by whea.
I first apologized for NRC's lateness in answering her letter.
I noted that we have been very busy post-Tt'! taking action v;ith all licensed reactors to gain c. ore assurrance c' their safety.
I explained that at Zion Station
.te have resident inspector.
In fact I was just reviewing his latest report (No. 50-295/79-18 and 50-3C3./79-17) for inspections in August, 1979.
I noted the report was the eighteenth report for 1979 (average two per month) and co'/ered nunerous separate iters that viere inspected in detail.
I offered to send her a copy if she desired to see the extensiveness of the report. She would like to get it, so I'm sending separately.
Miss Desmond a'ppeared happy to get the personal call.
She stated she did not desire a formal reply letter. She had no further questions.
