The Radiation Safetj Officer is responsible for overall administration of the program, training and certification, document control, and auditing. L. The Radiographers are responsible for handlinq, storing, shipping, inspection, test and operating status and record keeping. 2. QA progra-. revisions will be made according to written procedures with manage?ent approval. The QA Program will emphasize cor. trol of the characteristics of the package which are critical to safety. The Radiation Safety 0*ficer shall assure that all radioactive date-ial shipping packages are designed and manufactured under a OA Program ~ approved by Nuclear Regulatory Cc: mission for all packanes desi?ned or fabricated af ter July 1,1978. This requirement can be satisfied by receiving a certification to this effect from the r.anufacturer. ) 3. Docu' rent Control All documents related to a specific shipping packace will be controlled through the use of written procedures. All document chances will be performed according to written procedures approved by nanagement. Handling Storage and Shipcir.1 i Written safety procedures c:r.cerning the handling, storage and shipping of packages for certain sper' 31 fom radioactive material will be followed. Shipments will r-be made unless all tests, certifications, acceptances, and final insn D'ons have been conpleted. Work instruct-ions will be provided for 1 .in), storage, and shipping operations. 1: Radiography personnel shall perfom the critical handling. storage and shipping operations. j 5. Inspection, Test and Operating Status ~j Inspection, test and operating status of packages for certain special fom radioactive material will be indicated and controlled by written procedures. Status will be indicated by tag, label, marking or log entry. Status of nonconfor::ing parts or packages will be positively maintained by written procedures. 1 Radiography personnel shall perfom the regulatory required inspections j and tests in accordance with written procedures. The Radiation Safety J Of ficer shall ensure that these functions are perfomed. i ) 6. Quality Assurance Records i Records of package approvals (including references and drawings), i procurement, inspections, tests, operating logs, audit results, personnel L training and qualifications and records of shipments will be maintained. j, Descriptions of equipment and written procedures will also be maintained. A list of these records, with their storage locations, w'll be raintained by the Radiatiun Safety Officer. 7. Audits 1 l Established schedules of audits of the QA Progran will be performed using i written check lists. Results of audits will be mintained and reported l to management. Audit reports will be evaluated and deficient areas corrected. The audits will be dependent on the safety significance of the activity l being audited, but each a:tivity. vill be audited at least once per year. Audit reports will be raintaired as part of the quality assurance records.
