Three Mile Island ?!uclear Station, Units 1 & 2 (TM1-1 & 2)
License Nos. DPR-50 & 73 Docket Iios. 50-289 & 50-320 Unit 1 BWST Draining The order on use of EPICOR II requires that suitable tanhage at TMI-l be maintained at an appropriate state of readiness that could be used to store vaste water from 24I-2 should additional storage capacity become necessary.
At a meeting with Mr. John Collins, of your staff on October 22, 1979, Metropolitan Edison stated that draining of the PWST for tank and Decay Heat piping repairs was required to support our Unit 1 schedule.
In this meeting we agreed that:
1.
A minimum of one Bleed Tank volume vould be immediately reserved for use as Unit 2 overflow in case of an emergency.
2.
As soon as reasonably achievable after draining of the Unit 1 BWST, processing of liquid vaste in Unit 1 would begin and con-tinue until such time as a second Bleed Tank volume was available for Unit 2 use in case of an emergency.
3 It's understood that the full capacity of three Unit 1 Bleed Tanks vill be required by Unit 1 to support TMI-1 startup currently targeted for April 1,1980.
