This letter is in regard to the two NFS-4 spent it.el shipping casks and Certificate of Compliance No. 5523 On April 6,1979, the NRC issued an Order which suspended the general license for use of casks designated as Model No. NFS-4 and thereby prohibited the use of these casks until the conditions of the Order were met and a further Order issued to lif t the suspension. As regards the two NFS-4 casks, this Occ'er remains in effect.
It is NFS' intention that the NRC will be provided valth the necessary information, to meet the requirements of tue Order.
Nuclear Assurance Corporation (NAC) has agreed to undertake for NFS such licensing action necessary to obtain NRC approval to a!!ow utilization of the casks for shipment of spent nudear fuel and other types of solid radioactive materials.
NFS hereby requests that the Certificate of Cc,mpliance No. 6693, which expires on November 30, 1979, be renewed for an additional five years with the understanding that until conditions of the April 6th Order are met, the usage of the two NFS-4 casks is prohibited. Pursuant to 10 CFR Part 170, a licensing fee of
$150.00 (Check No. 21432) is endosed.
