Dear Mr. Vassallo:

Ohio Edison Company has reviewed your letter on " Follow Up Actions Resulting from the NRC Staff Reviews Regarding the Three Mile Island Unit 2 Accidert" dated October 10, 1979. As you are aware, OEC, as a member of CAPCO, is still studying the scheduled inservice dates for Erie Nuclear Plant, Units 1 and 2. While this study is continuing, we have reduced our licensing manpower and cannot, at this time, amend the PSAR to include the six items noted in your October 10 letter. When the Erie schedule is better defined, we will provide our commitments to the six items by an amendment to the Erie PSAR. We do not anticipate substantial problems in complying with the Lessons Learned to date.

OEC has been in contact with the NRC, EPRI, NSAC, AIF, and is parti ipating in the B&W Nonoperating License Plants Owners Group to implement, on the Erie Nuclear Plant, a timely and comprehensive plan

.to deal with all of the lessons learned from the Three Mile Island accident. We will continue to work with these groups towards that goal.

Should you.have any Turther questions or comments regarding the sbove, please advise.

Very truly yours,
