This preliminary notification constitutes EARLY notice of events of POSSIBLE national security or public interest siorificance.
The information oresented is as initially received without verification or evaluation and is basically all that is known by IE staff as of this date.
SUBJECT:
ANTINUCLEAR DEMONSTRATION Information has been received by the NRC regarding several anti-nuclear demon-strations at or near nuclear facilities scheduled for September 30, October 1, and Octcoer 6, 1979.
Tne ddmonstrations are expected to involve from 5,000 to 20,000 protestors.
Although unsubstantiated, information is available which indicates violence may be employed during the demonstrations.
Licensees and appropriate law enforcement agencies have been notified.
Necessary precautions
- are being taken.
The IAT has been notified.
This PN is being issued to alert the Commission of the possibility of publicity regarding these planned demonstrations.
