Dear Mr. Sells:

This acknowledges your letter of October 5,1979, (received October 15, 1979) requesting information on whether any endangered, threatened or proposed to be listeo species may be present in the area of the proposed construction of transmission lines in conjunction with the Phipps Bend Nuclear Plant which is located in Hawkins, Sullivan, and Washington Counties, Tennessee. We have assigned log nunter 4-2-80-A-9 to this project, and we request that you refer to this nunter in all future correspondence.

We have forwarded the information that you provided to our Asheville Area Office for their review. Upen completion of their review, we will provide you with a list of species that may be present in the area of the proposed action, and the information needed in the biological assessment, if it is required.

We appreciate your interest and concern in the preservation of listed species.
