Mr. Valentine Deale, Chairman Atomic Safety and Licensing Board U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, D. C. 20555

Dear Mr. Deale:

T have received a copy of some recent correspondence to you from Mr. Ted Haley and Ms. Geraldine McCormick, Co-chairmen of the Nashington State House Energy and Utilities Committee.

The thrust of their correspondence related to the resumption of the hearings by the Atomic Safety and Licer. sing Board on the Skagit nuclear power plants in Washington State. I agree wholeheartedly with the request as expressed in that correspondence. The delays in licensing nuclear power plants in this country are getting inordinately expensive. Each year's delay adds hundreds of millions of dollars to the cost of power, and I urge that your Board expedite its actions ,

so that additional delays are minimized.

Best wishes.

Sincerely, d
