Dear Sirs,
Our group, SENSE (Safe Energy Now to Save the Environment),
is a local Joliet citizens' group concerned with the constantly increasing buildup of nuclear energy reactors and spent nuclear fuel facilities in our area.
The Joliet Herald News of 8-29-79 carried a notice that two hearings concerning the GE nuclear waste plant in Morris will be conducted soon.
The article stated that those wishing to participate in the hearing should contact your office.
SENSE strongly objects to the GE waste facility in our midst.
Not only do area residents not want the GE facility expanded, they want it shut down altogether.
One key question to you must be:. hy Morris, Illinois, adjacent W
to and contained within one of the most highly populated and industrialized states in the union?
A nuclear disaster here would not only endanger the lives of millions, it would paralyze the entire nation.
What is it that ordinary citizens must do to protect the environment of their state and the lives of their progeny?
Please inform us of the format our objections must take.
Must they be written informally or drawn up as a legal petition?
de also wish to be informed cs to the exact dates and location of the hearings as soon as they are confirmed.
Chank you.
Sincerely, b
Lola Hill, Spokesperson SENSE 208 Birch Dr.
