Dear Mr. Keppler:
Northern Indiana Public Service Company's (NIPSCO) respons e dated May 9,1979, to IE Bulletin 79-03 dated March 12,19~9 con:1uded with the sentence, "If we are informed that General Electric plans for the Bailly facility call for the use of such materials, NIPSCO will notify you immediately." Mr. Shannon Phillips of Region III, contacted NIPSCO on July 17, 1979, suggesting that this statement created an open item which may not be closed out.
Accordingly NIPSCO made further inquiry of General Electric Company and was advised that Mr. W. R. Rutherford of the Bethesda office of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission was notified on May 14, 1979, by Mr. R. O. Brugge of General Electric,"...that no SA-312 piping manufactured by Youngstown Welding and Engineering Company has been used in GE-supplied piping systems for BWRs.
In addition, piping products ' welded without filler metal' are prohibited by our specifica-tions."
This supplement closes all open items and completes NIPSCO's response to all portions of IE Bulletin 79-03.
