This refers to your application dated August 15, 1979, requesting approval of your quality assurance (QA) program as meeting the QA program require-ments of 10 CFR 671.51.
In cor.nection with our review, we need the infomation identified in the enclosure to this letter. Please submit seven copies of your response to the enclosed request for additionsl information within 30 days following receipt of this letter. Also, please delete Appendixes B and C of the.
application. While there must be supporting written procedures to implement your QA program, these procedures and forms should not be submitted as part of your QA program plan.

Request for Additional Information 1.
In part 1, add a statement that shipping packages for radioactive material will not be designed or fabricated under the QA program.
2.
In part 3, add a statement that the Radiation Safety Officer insures that all QA functions are conducted in accordance with the la' test applicable documents.
3.
In part a, add a statement that radioactive material willnot be shipped until all tests, certifications, acceptances, and final inspecticns have been completed. Also delete reference to Appendixes B and C.
4 In part 5, describe how the status of radioactive shipping p;ckages will be indicated and add a statement that the status of nonconforming parts or packages will be positively maintained in accordance with written procedures.

In part 7, add statements as follows:
a) Audit results will be reported to management.
b) Audit reports will be evaluated and deficient areas corrected.
c) Each activity will be audited at least once per year by someone above the Radiation Safety Officer.
6.
Appendix A shows an "RP0."
Please change this to "RS0" to agree with the text.
